Indie X is the definitive source for independent music online. Unlike the ever-growing number of Internet superstores, which push volume sellers and major labels, our goal is to give a voice and presence to independent artists and labels, putting the best new music centerstage.

Built on the Internet's graphic user interface known as the World Wide Web, users can browse as they do in a record store. Throughout the site, users will find music, biographies, lyrics, photos, artwork, and even videos.

The lure for our customers is obvious: the convenience and excitement of a secure, one stop, online destination for the best independent music on the Internet. However, for the independent artists and labels that choose to promote and sell their music on our site, we offer an even more appealing value.

The typical problem most independent artists and labels encounter when taking their music online is traffic. After all, its expensive enough to build and maintain your own professionally designed website, but then you still have to go out and advertise. Marketing and promoting a website correctly is costly and difficult. We offer a solution--you provide the music and content, and let Indie X provide the professionally designed web page and generate the traffic for you.

Indie X uses a wide range of marketing tools such as direct mailers, national and college print ads, online banners and keywords, as well as sponsorships of live shows and festivals, to generate literally millions of consumer impressions each month. Our online community includes a global audience of independent fans, radio station programmers, club promoters, A&R representatives, and many more.

In the spotlight and centerstage, with promotions that will have a meaningful impact on your fans, all for an affordable fee. Why would you spend your promotional dollars anyplace else?

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT SUBMISSIONS

Songs

Each song must include one full-length version. Songs must be no longer than five and one-half minutes long (if longer, please specify a fade in time, fade out time, or both).

Choose songs recorded using the highest fidelity possible. We prefer that you send your music to us on CD but we also accept DAT, cassette and vinyl. Please label all music submissions with appropriate song order. For DATs, please use the 44.1kHz sampling rate, where available.

Each artist is required to sign a license (see Submission Form) allowing INDIE X to legally distribute their music electronically. Due to copyright laws, songs must be original. Parodies, however, are "fair use" of unoriginal material.

We encourage all artists to have their work legally copyrighted. The risk of copyright infringement is the same as it is from the radio or from cassette duplication.

Text

Text should be sent on disk or typed using a neutral font. If sent on disk, include a hard copy and please use plain text (ASCII) format (when using a word processing program, save document in "text" or "plain text" format).

Images can be photographs or artwork; color or black and white. Please send highest quality images available. If submitted on disk, please use jpeg or gif format and with a maximum size of 600 pixels in height or width.
